Cali looks dead set to come out on top in the NBA this year with the Lakers and the Clippers in line to lift the championships in 2020. If you take a look at Novibet online betting you’ll see that it is in fact the Lakers who are hotly tipped to win both the division and the playoffs, with the Clippers a close second. In my view however it will be the Clippers who win the championships this year, and here is exactly why.
Kawhi and Paul George
Quite how the Clippers managed to pull off getting NBA winner and MVP Kawhi Leanord onto their roster is something that many fans are still scratching their heads over. On top of that the LA outfit were savvy enough to trade for Paul George from Oklahoma City Thunder, instantly giving them a magnificent opportunity of success this season. If you look at Kawhi’s numbers from last year, averaging 30.5 points per game, not to mention the huge number of clutch shots that he nailed as the Raptors marched on to success, it is hard not to be excited. Paul George wasn’t too bad last season either, notching up an average of 28 points per game, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. These two will be the driving force that takes the Clippers to success.
Defense
Kawhi and George are two of the best defensive players in the league and that is going to help the Clippers on both ends of the court. We also have to throw into the mix the all round game of Patrick Beverly who has made all-star defensive team on two occasions. Furthermore with bench players like Mo Harmless and Landry Shamet, the Clippers are all of a sudden looking like a defensive unit which can challenge for everything, and against anyone. If the Clippers manage to land Andre Iguadola as well, that is going to be one of the scariest defensive teams in the game.
Team Chemistry
Whilst many will point to the fat that the Lakers brought in many more players to upgrade their team in comparison to the Clippers, that is not always a huge positive and it can damage team chemistry. This is where the Clippers have done very well, bringing in one or two and maintaining a great many players from last season. When you are taking a team to the championships you need every single one of them to be at their best and most importantly, fighting for each other. The team chemistry that the Clippers have compared to the Lakers is exactly what will separate the two LA sides this year, and it is why the Clippers will go on to win the whole thing.
Younger brothers the Clippers haven’t won a championship in their entire history, and it will be even sweeter for them to know that their very first one came at the expense of the Lakers, when they had the greatest player in the world on their roster.
